The Allied Health Professions Forum Scotland (AHPFS) is a strategic alliance of AHP
professional bodies representing the collective voice of the 13,000 AHPs in Scotland
working to promote and optimise AHPs essential contribution to improved patient care in
Scotland.

Vision
AHPFS aspires to achieve a circumstance where Scotland’s people can optimally benefit from the skills, knowledge and experience available to them from the AHP workforce.
Activity
AHPFS works on one or all of the following activities on an ongoing basis;
- Monitoring and responding as a collective group (where there is common interest) to Scottish
Executive and Parliament initiatives which effect AHP service users. - Click here to view our questions submitted to the Health Committee.
- Working to secure appropriate involvement of AHPs on relevant bodies at national, regional and local level.
- Campaigning directly on “common issues”.
- Developing strategic partnerships with other relevant organisations.
Successes
Since it began in 2000 the AHPFS has;
- Established good communication links with the Scottish Executive (SE) AHP Officer and CNO.
- Been active on the SE “Future Directions” Ministerial Implementation Group and all related working groups.
- Actively engaged with NHS Education Scotland and Quality Improvement Scotland.
- Run two conferences – on Joint Future Agenda and the “Kerr Report”.
- Spoken about AHP work force issues in Scottish Parliament debate.
- Presented to Scottish Parliament Committees on a number of issues.
